Charles David Bitner, of Vandalia, Passed away on December 16, 2006, after a lengthy battle from the effects of diabetes, at the age of 67 years. Dave lived life like there was no tomorrow, a ready laugh, a bright smile, and a Tigerish lust to do what most men only dream of. A love of flying in high school, led Dave to go to work at a near by airport and earn his pilots license. His love of motorcycles led him into the world of professional dirt track racing, in which he was very well respected by his fellow competitors. A Machine Repairman by trade, Dave was able to build some very fast motorcycles that led to his share of wins. After the attack of diabetes, he retired from flying and pro racing to join the D.M.C. in 1988 to stay close to the sport that he loved. All that knew him will sorely miss his “Let it Ride” at Club meetings.
